U.S. officials assure the Mexican-American music superstar Jenni Rivera was killed in a plane crash in northern Mexico on Sunday morning (9/12).
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said the Learjet plane carrying
The agency did not know what caused the plane crash.
The NTSB has sent a team to assist Mexican authorities investigating this accident. The team of experts, including advisors from the Federal Aviation Administration and Learjet and special investigations staff airworthiness of aircraft and flight crew operations.
Rivera held a concert in Monterrey on Saturday. Mexican authorities say the plane wreckage found outside Monterrey on Sunday. He came to Toluca, near Mexico City.
Transport and Communications Minister Gerardo Ruiz Esparza told Mexican television said the crash site was spread over a wide area and "no one recognized."
